The Drive To Corinna

"I was supposed to be at Corinna by now; they were expecting me at the pub, but the journey had taken longer than I thought. I’d driven around the back-blocks of western Tasmania, getting out of the car to take arty photos of the burnt bush. Fires had been through the region over the past few weeks, and there were still tendrils of smoke rising from the inaccessible areas.”
